RESUMO
O presente artigo consiste na apresentação de algumas personagens do Antigo Testamento. A pesquisa aborda a vida de mulheres e sua atuação como filhas, esposas e mães. A ênfase é tanto a descrição de suas histórias, a partir do contexto da época, como a análise de alguns estudiosos sobre a atuação destas no seu meio de convívio. A exposição mostra a importância de algumas mulheres para sua cultura e revela o quanto elas representavam para seu povo. A história destas personagens também revela o agir de Deus através de suas vidas e as lutas, angústias e anseios pessoais. Elas foram pessoas especiais que tinham suas expectativas e atuavam dentro dos limites de sua cultura.

ABSTRACT
This article presents some Old Testament characters, principally, the lives of women and their role as daughters, wives and mothers. Descriptions of their stories are given from the context of their time and include analyses from certain scholars. The exhibition shows the importance of women in their culture and reveals how they represented their people. The history of these characters also reveals the act of God in their lives and their personal struggles, anxieties and desires. They were special people who had expectations and acted within their cultural limits.
