O “SOBRENATURALISTA RADICAL”: A ETERNIDADE COMO ELEMENTO DA COSMOVISÃO DE C. S. LEWIS

Resumo

O presente artigo apresenta uma pesquisa referente à maneira como o conceito de Eternidade está relacionado com a Cosmovisão de C. S. Lewis. Eternidade, neste trabalho, é entendida não apenas como uma marca temporal, mas como uma realidade invisível, superior e supersensível que tangencia o mundo material. Enquanto isso, Cosmovisão diz respeito à visão de mundo, interpretações e explicações quanto à realidade. A pergunta que este artigo pretende responder é: de que maneira a doutrina da Eternidade influencia na visão de mundo de C. S. Lewis? A hipótese defendida é que a Eternidade é um elemento central da Cosmovisão do autor, e, ao longo da pesquisa são apresentados argumentos que favorecem essa interpretação. Dentre os resultados, destaca-se: 1) Lewis apresenta-se como alguém profundamente impactado e influenciado pela Doutrina da Eternidade; 2) a Eternidade, para o autor, é mais real que a realidade e explica diversas questões do mundo visível; e 3) a visão de mundo do autor possui tal doutrina como um dos elementos principais.

The “Radical Supernaturalist”: Eternity as an Element of C. S. Lewis’s Worldview

Abstract: The present article presents an investigation into the manner in which the concept of Eternity is related to C. S. Lewis’s worldview. In this study, Eternity is understood not merely as a temporal marker, but as an invisible, superior, and supersensible reality that touches the material world. Meanwhile, “worldview” refers to one’s perception of the world, as well as the interpretations and explanations concerning reality. The question this article seeks to answer is: in what way does the doctrine of Eternity influence C. S. Lewis’s worldview? The hypothesis defended herein is that Eternity constitutes a central element of the author’s worldview, and throughout the research, arguments supporting this interpretation are presented. Among the results, the following stand out: (1) Lewis presents himself as someone profoundly impacted and influenced by the Doctrine of Eternity; (2) for the author, Eternity is more real than material reality and elucidates various aspects of the visible world; and (3) the author’s worldview incorporates this doctrine as one of its principal components.
