A disciplina eclesiástica na Teologia Cristã Reformada do século XXI

Resumo

Neste trabalho realiza-se uma pesquisa bibliográfica, elegendo as contribuições de teólogos expoentes da teologia reformada do século XXI, a fim de analisar o ensino dos mesmos sobre disciplina eclesiástica. O presente artigo busca ser relevante ao propor como justificativa a solidificação dessa doutrina na vida da igreja contemporânea. Dessa maneira, questiona-se: será que a igreja contemporânea entende o que é disciplina eclesiástica? A teologia reformada tem formado teólogos que irão aplicar essa perspectiva doutrinária para este momento histórico? E, ainda, de que modo as características culturais deste tempo podem influenciar na aplicação da disciplina corretiva? Esta prática é fundamentada no ensino de Jesus, registrado no Evangelho de Mateus 18:15-19 e nos ensinos de outros escritos do Novo Testamento, especialmente no de Paulo em sua primeira carta à igreja de Corinto, no capítulo 5. As escolas teológicas oriundas da Reforma Protestante, especialmente, a que foi influenciada diretamente por João Calvino, deram demasiada importância para essa prática, como característica de uma igreja bíblica e séria, como pode ser notado nas grandes confissões de fé reformadas. Para tal pesquisa, serão utilizados como base os estudos de Calvino (2007), Dever (2007), Dever e Alexander (2005), Leeman (2012 e 2016) e as principais confissões de fé reformadas, a saber a confissão de fé Escocesa (1560), a confissão Belga (1561), o catecismo de Heidelberg (1563), os cânones de Dort (1618) e a confissão de fé Batista de Londres (1689). Assim, a metodologia aplicada é a pesquisa bibliográfica descritiva para explicitar o ensino e aplicação dessa doutrina. Por conseguinte, o presente trabalho não tem a pretensão de esgotar o assunto tratado, mas, sim, trazer à tona sua relevância para os dias atuais, iniciando um novo processo de discussão. Ressalta-se que com a influência do antropocentrismo acentuado pelo relativismo da pós- modernidade, a disciplina no âmbito da igreja local tem sido esquecida e vista por muitos como uma prática desnecessária e, em consequência disso, muitos cristãos podem não ter um conhecimento básico sobre o assunto ou até mesmo podem desconhecer tal prática, a qual é essencial para a saúde de uma igreja.

Ecclesiastic discipline in Reformed Christian Theology of the 21st century

ABSTRACT

In this article, a bibliographic research is carried out. The contributions of reformed theologians of the 21st century were chosen for an analysis of their teaching on ecclesiastical discipline. This article seeks to be relevant when proposing the solidification of this doctrine in the life of the contemporary church. Thus, the following questions are made: does the contemporary church understand what ecclesiastical discipline is? Has Reformed Theology trained theologians who will apply this doctrinal perspective to this historic moment? And yet, how can the cultural characteristics of that time be influencing the application of corrective discipline? This practice is based on the teaching of Jesus, recorded in the Gospel of Matthew 18: 15-19 and in the teachings of other New Testament writings, especially in Paul's first letter to the church in Corinth, chapter 5. Theological schools that came from the Protestant Reformation, especially the one that was directly influenced by John Calvin, gave too much importance to this practice, as a characteristic of a biblical church, as can be seen in the great Reformed confessions of faith. For this research, the studies of Calvin (2007), Dever (2007), Dever and Alexander (2005), Leeman (2012 and 2016) and the main Reformed confessions of faith, namely the Scottish confession of faith (1560), the Belgic confession (1561), the Heidelberg catechism (1563), the Dort canons (1618) and the London Baptist confession of faith (1689). The methodology applied to explain the teachings and application of this doctrine is descriptive bibliographic research. The present work does not intend to exhaust the subject, but rather to bring out its relevance for the present day, starting a new process of discussion. With the influence of anthropocentrism being accentuated by the postmodernity's relativism, it is noteworthy that the discipline at the local church has been forgotten and seen by many as an unnecessary practice. As a result, many Christians may not have a basic knowledge about the subject or even may be unaware of such a practice, which is essential for the church's health.
