UMA ANÁLISE DIANTE DA ORIGEM DO SOFRIMENTO NAS VERTENTES SECULAR E BÍBLICA

Resumo

Este artigo demonstra que o sofrimento é algo benéfico ao cristão e faz parte do plano de Deus para a sua vida e, principalmente, para o seu crescimento espiritual, além de fortalecer a sua confiança na soberania e no cuidado divinos. O problema que esta investigação visa responder é o seguinte: qual é a perspectiva bíblica e secular do sofrimento e por que razão Deus permite o sofrimento na vida das pessoas? Deus permite o sofrimento por dois motivos principais: para que as pessoas possam aprender através do sofrimento; e como consequência do episódio da Queda. O objetivo geral foi discorrer sobre a perspectiva bíblica do sofrimento, identificando a maneira soberana como Deus age e permite o sofrimento, de maneira individual e coletiva, no decorrer da narrativa bíblica. Por fim, considera-se que o sofrimento como um instrumento poderoso nas mãos do Senhor para maturidade do servo fiel e do crescimento espiritual tanto do crente como da igreja.

An analysis of the origin of suffering from secular and biblical perspectives

Abstract: This article demonstrates that suffering is beneficial for Christians and is a part of God’s plan for their lives and, mainly, for their spiritual growth, as well as strengthening their trust in God’s sovereignty and care. The problem this research aims to answer is: what are the biblical and secular perspectives on suffering and why does God allow suffering in people’s lives? God allows suffering for two main reasons: so that people can learn through suffering; and as a consequence of the Fall. The general objective was to discuss the biblical perspective of suffering, identifying the sovereign way in which God acts and allows suffering, both individually and collectively, throughout the biblical narrative. Finally, suffering is considered as a powerful instrument in the Lord’s hands for the maturity of the faithful servant and the spiritual growth of both the believer and the church.
