O CONTEXTO MILITAR EM TORNO DO APÓSTOLO PAULO

Resumo

Qualquer assunto relacionado a Paulo, o maior teólogo da igreja primitiva depois do próprio Jesus, é assunto que gera expectativa, o que por si só configura um grande desafio. Um traço pouco abordado pelos historiadores e biógrafos do apóstolo era sua relação com o militarismo romano presente na sua época. Abordar o contexto militar em que se passou a vida de Paulo e que pautou a escrita de suas treze cartas é o desafio deste trabalho. Quem foi Paulo, qual é a sua cidade natal, como ocorreu a sua formação intelectual, são coisas que possuem boa comprovação histórica e bíblica, mas a influência externa do meio que permeou todo o seu ministério após sua conversão, acaba permanecendo na esfera das divagações. Um pouco de luz sobre este assunto precisa ser colocado. Paulo teve a companhia do maior e mais poderoso exército da antiguidade consigo. As legiões romanas estavam presentes na sua vida desde sua cidade natal que era província romana, até Jerusalém para onde foi completar seus estudos, pois ali estava sediada a mais eficiente legião romana, a terceira. Durante suas viagens missionárias ele circulou entre militares pelas cidades que passava. Conviveu corpo a corpo com muitos deles nas prisões que se submeteu e em todas anunciou o evangelho. Nasceu, cresceu, viveu, evangelizou e morreu entre militares. Isso moldou seu ministério e pode mudar nosso conhecimento sobre o apóstolo.

ABSTRACT

Any matters related to Paul, the greatest theologian of the early church after Jesus himself, is subject that generates expectation, which in itself sets a challenge. A trait rarely addressed by historians and biographers of the apostle was his relationship with the Roman military present in his time. Addressing the military context in which it came to Paul's life and that guided the writing of its thirteen letters is the challenge of this work. Who was Paul, what is your hometown, as was their intellectual training, are things that have good historical and biblical evidence, but the external influence of the environment that permeated his entire ministry after his conversion, just staying in the sphere of ramblings. A little light on this subject needs to be placed. Paul had the companionship of the largest and most powerful army of antiquity with him. The Roman legions were present in his life from his hometown that was Roman province, to Jerusalem where he was completing his studies, for there was based the most efficient Roman legion, the third. During his missionary journeys he circulated among military the cities that passed. Lived melee with many of them in prisons who submitted and all preached the gospel. Was born, raised, lived, preached and died between military. It shaped his ministry and may change our understanding of the apostle.
